Goldfields Gas Transmission

Here to Help You

Arranging delivery
Our aim is to provide customers with a reliable and cost-effective service that best meets their unique needs.  In the all-important area of energy delivery customers can choose between either a "delivered gas contract", or "split contract".

Delivered Gas
The pipeline is regulated by the Economic Regulation Authority and as such is prohibited from buying or selling gas for use by Third Parties.  By regulation GGT's role is to transport gas, while companies engaged in the supply or trading of natural gas can arrange for both gas supply and delivery in a single arrangement.  Delivered Gas contracts mean that customers receive a single charge on a dollar-per-gigajoule delivered basis.

Split Contract
Alternatively, customers can opt for individual contracts between themselves and gas suppliers.  Customers also need to arrange for gas transportation with GGT.

Assisting with Connections
Additionally, GGT can construct both inlet/outlet facilities along the pipeline as well as dedicated lateral or spur pipelines to your site.

We would be pleased to help you identify the most cost-effective and best approach to your needs.  Simply call GGT's Commercial Manager on +61-8-9422 4100.

Pipeline capacity
The Goldfields Gas Pipeline (GGP) was constructed and currently operates under the Goldfields Gas Pipeline Agreement Act 1994.

The majority of GGT's customers have opted for firm capacity arrangements, secured by a gas transportation agreement for an agreed duration.

Pipeline capacity agreed to under the contract is expressed in terms of MDQ (Maximum Daily Quantity) in terajoules per day (TJ/d).

Total pipeline capacity is divided into two tranches - Covered and Uncovered.  The National Gas Access (WA) Act 2009 and National Gas Rules apply to the Covered Tranche of the total pipeline capacity.

With the addition of new compressor stations at Wyloo West and Ned’s Creek, the current total pipeline capacity of the GGP is approximately 150 TJ/d based on existing delivery profiles.  The nominal fully expanded capacity of the GGP is around 167 TJ/d.

Charges
Charges for typical gas transportation services are comprised of three components and vary depending on customer requirements, including load, point of delivery and contract duration.

These, and the rates that typically apply, are shown below:

Toll charge

$0.243512/GJ - $0.294649/GJ

Capacity reservation charge

$0.001685/GJ/km - $0.002040/GJ/km

Throughput charge

$0.000634/GJ/km - $0.000767/GJ/km

These rates are indexed with the Consumer Price Index (CPI).  The reference CPI base for the tariff is June 1997, which had a CPI of 120.2.

The toll charge is applied to the maximum daily quantity of gas capacity (MDQ) reserved by the customer.

The capacity reservation charge is multiplied by the pipeline length (in km) from the inlet point to the outlet point to derive the overall unit charge to be applied to the MDQ.

The throughput charge is multiplied by the pipeline length (in km) to be applied to the actual quantity of gas delivered.

In general, about 80% of the total unit charge is comprised of a toll charge and a capacity reservation charge.  The throughput charge makes up the balance of the unit charge.  That is, the toll charge and capacity reservation charge for each day is charged to customers on a take-or-pay basis, while the throughput charge is based on the actual quantity delivered.

Other charges may include a 'used gas charge', 'nomination service charge', 'account establishment and maintenance charge', and other relevant charges detailed in our terms and conditions.
